Prof. Pedro Teixeira at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon

On February 20, Prof. Pedro Teixeira presented a conference at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, on the topic "Opportunistic Eating? Eating Self-Regulation in the Age of Abundance", under the MS program in Human and Environmental Biology.

On March 7, Prof. Pedro Teixeira was invited for the IX Fórum do Desporto promoted by FCDEF e a APPEFIS [Associação de Portuguesa de Professores de Educação Física], at the University of Coimbra, and presented a comunication on the topic “Actividade Física no Controlo do Peso Corporal: Da Razão à Auto-Determinação” (Physical Activity and Weight Control: From Cognition to Self-Determination) Key points included: - Physical activity and body weight / obesity - A dual role of exercise in weight control: the physiological and psychological routes - Motivation for physical activity: quantity/direction vs. source/quality - Successful long-term weight control: the role of Self-determination theory and motivational interviewing - Lessons from PESO program – Promotion for Exercise and Health in Obesity
